The Importance Of Cleaning Your Vehicle's Air Conditioning System And Replacing The Cabin Filter

Posted by Dan Solis on Jun 15, 2019 8:47:29 AM

A vehicle’s air conditioning (AC) systems take a beating in the hot summer months as it constantly runs to cool us off. The AC evaporator is an essential part of the AC system; it brings in warm air from the exterior and runs it through the coil, which contains refrigerant, to leave us with a nice cold breeze coming out of the vents.

Addison - AC Cleaning and Cabin Filter

One common problem with evaporators is when it pulls in air from the outside, pollen and debris are also pulled in and adhere to the moist environment inside the evaporator. When the vehicle is not in use, the evaporator dries up and the pollen and debris tend to sit and stay. The next day, the AC is run again only causing more junk to be pulled in and stick inside the evaporator. This buildup causes AC system to not operate at peak efficiency because the air flow is restricted from all the debris it has been collecting all summer long (and maybe even all previous summers since a lot of people don’t ever think of having an evaporator service done).

Addison - AIR FLOW RESTRICTION

On top of having your AC not operate at peak efficiency because the airflow is restricted, we also start inhaling the results of that nasty debris. Has a musty smell ever hit you when you first turn on your AC? Well, an evaporator provides the perfect environment for mold to grow given the humidity and debris buildup. The cumulative smell is then pushed out of the vents when the blower motor is turned on.

The evaporator cleaning service performed at Addison Auto Center not only cleans the evaporator itself but also drains and flushes each of the individual vents and ducts so you no longer inhale any mold and debris. We also freshen up the AC system with a BG product that gives a fresher smell that fights off mold from collecting in the future.

As part of this service special we will also include a new cabin filter. The cabin filter works in correlation with the AC/HVAC system to prevent the dusty particles we sometimes see coming out of the vents and into the cab when we use heat or AC.
