An interesting and fairly long-standing pattern in Metro Denver is the conversion of old auto repair shop structures into coffee shops, bars, and restaurants. Typically, auto repair businesses become priced out of highly gentrifying areas and can find vibrant new life with their mid-century and industrial-chic elements, as well as their huge garage doors that allow for plenty of fresh air and sunlight.
Our Operations Manager, Dirk Owens, Talks About Brakes for Breasts

Addison Auto participates in the Brakes for Breasts program for the second year. Brakes for Breasts is an organization that unites the hands of Independent Auto Repair Shops during the month of October.

October is the best month to get your brakes replaced because you can help us put the Brakes on Breast Cancer. We will provide customers with FREE brake pads and the customer simply pays for the labor and any other parts that may be needed. We will then donate 10% of that total to research efforts to develop a Breast Cancer Vaccine.
It is likely the role your car plays in your life has changed significantly since the start of the pandemic. If you had asked me in January, I would have said your car is likely used most to get you to and from work. Now, with an entirely different culture and reality, the car has taken on a new place in society. We are using our cars to safely celebrate the things in life we miss, like milestones and travel.
A Great Year for Traveling Within the Denver, Colorado Area
Posted by Jim Addison on Jun 19, 2020 9:36:41 AM
Right now, airline travel isn’t attractive. But, NOT vacationing isn’t attractive either! Last year, I wrote about traveling within Colorado and adjoining states. Who knew car travel would be
even more relevant this year! At least we have the good fortune to live in a part of the country so full of the wonders of nature. When Brenda and I moved to Colorado in 1971, we bought a Renault 16 hatchback (picture below) and drove it all over the state, stopping and camping wherever we wanted. A loose air cleaner bolt allowed the sand to get into the engine while driving through a sandstorm in Arizona. We got through the sand storm only to find our engine blowing a smokescreen. After spending an interesting night in Tuba City, Arizona, we continued to the Grand Canyon, and about a case of oil got us back to Denver. It took me about a week of late nights to rebuild the engine. The moral here is to be sure your vehicle is thoroughly inspected before leaving.

Interview With Tom Braun - Long Time Addison Customer
Posted by Bree Addison Owens on Mar 12, 2020 8:15:23 AM
We took some time to interview a long time customer who has been with Addison since the very beginning in 1982, back when the shop was known as Swedish Automotive.
While Addison has come a long way and grown a lot since 1982, Tom says he always remembers all the "laughs with Jim from day one." One thing that has never changed is our commitment to providing personal, honest, and caring service.
Do You Want A Vaccine That Prevents Breast And Other Cancers AND Do You Want Free Brake Pads?

These seemingly unrelated questions come together in the month of October. To support
BRAKES FOR BREASTS, Addison Auto Repair and Body Shop (Addison) has teamed up with
two of our most generous vendors: WORLDPAC and Western Automotive Warehouse
Distributors (WAWD).
Abdul took a job with the US military as a combat interpreter in Afghanistan with a dream of helping his country and ours by fighting alongside US troops against Taliban extremists. After working with our troops for several years, Abdul's life became threatened and his family was actively pursued by the Taliban. In exchange for his service and to save the lives of his family, the US provided him a visa to the US. Living in a city with sky-high rent and where an education from his country means nothing, it is no small feat for Abdul to start over.

As I was pulling plastic out of our cardboard recycle bin here at the shop, it occurred to me that possibly most of us don’t really know how to recycle. Then someone stopped in and asked us if we would recycle their empty engine oil bottles. I’m still trying to get my wife to look at the pictures on top of our recycle bin at home that shows pictures of what you can and can’t recycle. Then whenever our extended family is over for dinner, I find myself pulling all the napkins out of the recycle bin. I apologize this article doesn’t have anything to do with cars but I need to vent.
